Viral Swamp Potatoes

swamp potatoes in a crock pot

I’m not sure why they call these Swamp Potatoes - but one thing’s for sure, they’ve gone viral for a reason… they’re SO GOOD! This recipe takes me right back to my Southern roots, the kind of comfort food that feels like home with every bite.

What I love most is how effortless it is. You basically toss everything into the crockpot, turn it on, and let it work its magic. A few hours later, your kitchen will smell like you’ve been cooking all day, but you’ll know the secret - it took almost no effort at all!

These potatoes are savory and loaded with flavor. The sausage adds that perfect Southern kick, and the potatoes soak up all that rich, smoky goodness. Whether you serve them as a hearty side or a main dish with some cornbread on the side, this is one of those meals everyone will go back for seconds on.

If you grew up in the South, you’ll recognize that familiar comfort. And if you didn’t - you’ll still understand why this dish has won hearts all over the internet.

👉 Save this recipe for a busy weeknight or your next potluck. You’ll thank yourself later! And if you’ve ever heard the real story behind the name “Swamp Potatoes,” I’d love to hear it - drop it in the comments below!

1

Searing the Beef

Sear beef fillets on high heat for 2 minutes per side to form a golden crust. Let it cool before proceeding to keep the beef tender.

2

Mushroom Duxelles

Cook the mushrooms until all moisture evaporates to prevent soggy pastry. Aim for a thick, paste-like consistency.

3

Puff Pastry Handling

Keep the puff pastry cold to avoid softness. Chill if it becomes too soft, and score the top lightly without cutting through.
