Mixed Berry Cobbler: A Sweet Southern Springtime Dessert

Let me teach you how to make this mixed berry cobbler from scratch! It's a sweet southern springtime staple at my house, y'all! It'll be the star of your next gathering and the best part is that it is so easy to make! You can use any variety of frozen berries or peaches for this cobbler and combine them with these basic ingredients and you'll have a sweet dessert fresh from the oven.

What You'll Need:

  • 1/2 cup of butter

  • about 4 cups of frozen berries or peaches, any variety

  • 1 1/4 cups of sugar

  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour

  • 2 tsp. of baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp. of salt

  • 1/2 tsp. of nutmeg

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1 tsp. of vanilla



What You'll Do:

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

  • Melt the butter in a 9x13 casserole dish in the oven

  • While the butter melts, mix the batter.


Batter ingredients

  • Combine the flour, 1 cup of sugar, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, milk, and vanilla in a bowl and stir until smooth.

  • Once the butter is melted, remove the baking dish from the oven and pour in the fruit, frozen is just fine. Sprinkle the fruit with the remaining 1/4 cup of sugar then pour over the batter. No need to stir anything!

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-45 minutes. Baking times will vary depending on your oven and the size of your baking dish. You want the cobbler to be golden brown and bubbly on the sides.
